2007 is here

Yes, now write date is --/--/07, not 06 anymore. Lucky I do not have alot of chance to write the date, saves me from quite a few embarrassments. It not hard to see everywhere they are removing the deco, the thousands of light bulbs hanging on the trees, the famous tree which has been the backdrop for countless photos. For every year, the man made Christmas gets better and better. More lights, More sale, More people singing along the streets, and of cause, much much more people squeezing in the train and cars on the road just to land themselves in the middle of "The Celebration". One thing I totally hate is to squeeze with all the bangla along orchard road. I was on the bus on my way to meet my friends in town. I was quite tired so I slept. But sleeping in the bus is not totally ko. Cos still have to keep track of the location in case I miss your stop. That's what I do too. I opened my eyes and saw Tangling mall, with all the ang moh and their kids dancing around the stupid tree. So I closed my eyes again and tell myself I can sleep for another 20 min or so before the bus reach city hall. But to my horror, around 15 min later I open my eyes, it was still at the thai embasy. Its been quite a while since I am stuck in a jam. West side no jam de. So I began to look out of the window, at those people inside the cars. Non of them smiling sia. But I thought its the festive season? I guess they are like me, and many many other people, all colliding into that small dot on the map of Singapore to meet their friends. The irritating Christmas songs played in departmental stores suddenly all become chinese new year songs, and its 10 million times more irritating. I think its slowly starting to sink in now... a new year has come, along with many challenges and opportunities. For me, its loading of good memories before I fly off to work in china. Dunno its me or the trip, I always have small little things to settle, like the atm card (cos i forgot the pin), singtel line suspension( cos I will not be using the line), apply for extension of luggage weight limit (cos student can have 20kg more) and ensuring that I have got all the things I need.

I still remember that time, I joined the queue outside singtel shop @westmall. The shop was about to open in 5 mins time. Then there was this bangla. First he place one of his foot in front of me (which is in the queue), but his body still outside. Then of cause he was damn close to me. Ofcause natural reaction is to step back, in case he touches me and I turn into charcoal. Then conveniently, he stepped in with his other foot ( now he is totally in the queue and infront of me). I was curious to find out how he is going to pull himself off after blatantly cutting the queue. He looked up at the hello sign on top of the entrance, then he let loose a frown, as if he was deep in thoughts, then after a while, his expression returned to normal and now he is officially part of the queue. Wah lao... first time I see this. I dunno want to laugh or ask him to get lost to the back of the queue. After some time I finally get to voice my request to the receptionist. I wanted to suspend my line because I will not be using it when in China. She asked for my mobile number and told mi no. I asked why, and she said I am still in contract. The only way is to pay 250 for the penalty of the contract and then she can suspend for me. If no contract, I will have to pay the normal monthly subscription and 8 bucks every month to suspend my line. WTF! I take the simcard give the bangla use I still save 8 bucks man. After this contract ends, dear singtel, you are gonna lose one customer.... and that customer is gonna make sure you lose more.

On the brighter side, imagine one big bowl of fried fish, with smooth thick beehoon, swimming in a big bowl of milky soup base. On top of that, you can smell the hint of XO inside. Located under a modest hdb block over at holland village, this little stall serves generous helpings of their famous XO fried fish beehoon. If I were to use one word to express the food, it would have to be "sieok". First mouth, the soup go inside, its a strange but nice sensation. Which will make you drink the second mouth, after which the "good" word is registered inside your brain giving signals to all parts of the body to express your happiness. Then you will try the fish and beehoon and the veg, only to know that they all add up to the sieokness of the soup. In the end, you will find yourself floating in the sky, submerged in the goodness of the food. If you had a bad day at work, you might want to try this place.

Well truely a new year has come... its started to sink in now. Some people may think its still life as usual, morning brush teeth, eat breakfast, go work, lunch, work, dinner, sleep and next day repeat again. Look in the mirror, be glad that you live to see the start of a new year, time is in your hands, approach everything with a positive attitude, and more often than none, success will come more easily. When they do come, do remember to share them with the first person that comes in your mind.
